Your Vision and Integrity

Why is your vision, integrity, and ethics so important in personal and professional life?

A lot of people may wonder what the importance of honesty, integrity, and values are in life. I have wondered that myself at times, whether or not it is important in some situations, but in others, not so much. Yet, the scriptures teach us that it is important to be honest in your dealings with your fellow men. Always, as much as you possibly can, because we aren't perfect.

In your professional life, you need to remember those that you work with, and even not immediately close to you, are important to you. You are affected by them, and they are affected by you. If you are not honest in even one little interaction, that will come back to you most likely. You should never take your chances with that. Your reputation both personally and professionally will be hurt if you show even a little bit of dishonesty with people. This matters to both yourself, and to others. If you are not trusted, because someone heard you spread news that wasn't yours to tell, people will not be willing to share important things with you. You could miss out on opportunities, you might miss an advancement, or be giving a warning if you brake a code of conduct even.

At the end of the day, if you are not honest, ethical, or don't uphold to moral values that you need to abide by, the person that will be hurt from it the most will be yourself. You may think a white lie can be okay with friends or family, but you might not feel the best after you tell it to them. You may not always feel regret, pain, or see the consequences right away, but God knows what you do. You will always face consequences from your choice, and you cannot escape accountability nor responsibility.

Making your purpose at the sole driving factor in business is vital in this aspect. You need to focus on what your vision is, what your mission statement is, what your Why is, and moral values. This will give you a basis on which to make decisions if they are tough. Some business situations with either workers or customers may get tricky at times. When you have your set of moral values, your vision and purpose, you can make choices easier to be ethical while still loving people. If you loose sight of your vision and purpose, then you can replace it with money, fear, or pride as what drives you and your decisions. People get into tricky business or political bargains and choices because of this. As long as your morals and vision upholds your way of life and business, you will be able to make hard decisions, become easy decisions.
